2003 The Prisoner - By Orin Swift Cellars

This beautiful Zinfandel based wine is quite unique in terms of how it is blended and is one of the most interesting and complex wines I have tasted in some time. The grapes used in the wine are Zinfandel, Syrah, Cabernet, Petite Syrah, and Charbono. To me it tastes like a deep, rich, california Syrah but the other fruit blended in this wine make the juice soft and very complex. A very dark wine with dark red fruit aromas and complex flavors of bing cherry, licorice, and a slight touch of chocolate. This wine has a very long and lingering finish which leaves you wanting more. The price range is around $40 dollars and has some very reputable competition at that price, but I would definetly recommend this wine to someone who loves Syrah, or big Zins.
