2003 Valdicava Rosso di Montalcino

Valdicava is known for it's outstanding Brunello di Montalcino, but this Rosso is a very above average table wine. A definite expression of it's terroir, this wine has an earthy character that is perfectly true to Montalcino. Lots of clay-like earth on the palate with hints of subtle dark fruits. A smooth and slightly short finish. Perfect wine for pairing with food, in-fact maybe the best food-wine I have tasted. My love of Italian terroir makes me partial to this wine so I would rate it 91 points. A baby Brunello indeed!
