Campo di Sasso: Insoglio del Cinghiale 2004

A wine produced by the legendary Antinori family and a collaboration between brothers Ludivico and Piero Antinori. This Tuscan wine from Bibbona is made up of a blend of Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. The nose expresses notes of cedar, clay, dust, gravel, and black cherry. The flavors are soft yet boast a powerful elegance. This wine is very terroir driven and is a food wine and I find myself craving a nice meaty pasta dish to pair with it. Flavors of cedar, dark over-ripe cherries, and loads of leather. I mean loads!!! I like the wine but find it hard to drink without food. Aged cheeses and any kind of red sauced pasta will do perfect. 87 points...
