Nebbiolo wines are excellent with food

Today I decided to stop and eat dinner at a pretty swanky little Italian restaurant called "North". I wanted to dine at a place where I could order a good glass of wine and I thought I might find a good Brunello on the list. To my surprise the only Tuscan wines were Chianti's and a rosso di Montalcino. When I scrolled down the list the word Nebbiolo instantly caught my eye and without thinking further I had made my choice. I don't exactly recall the name of the wine but it wasn't a Barbaresco or Barolo but just some DOC Nebbiolo that I had never seen before. Turns out that I rediscovered my love for Nebbiolo wines paired with good Italian cuisine. I think it has to do with the good amount of acid that always seems to accompany these wines, that makes them pair so well with food. If you are one of those people that always opts for the Chianti when out at an Italian restaurant then I highly suggest trying a Nebbiolo wine.
