Pellegrini Olivet Lane Chardonnay 2004

Olivet Lane is a Russian River Chard that carries a lot of new world oak and buttery spice. The color is golden and typical of California Chardonnay, the nose expresses the vinification process in that you can smell the toasted oak barrels and the yeast from being on the lees. Lemon curd and custard, buttery toast, maybe a tidsy bit of yellow apple. The flavors follow suit with nutmeg, oak, lemon custard, and buttery toast. Not exactly my cup of tea as I think it lacks complexity and true varietal expression. I can't see drinking this wine with lots of food because the acid is just too low. I do however think it's a decent wine that many would enjoy. I score it 85 points.
