Archipel 2002 Red Blend

This Bordeaux style claret from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc shows stunning aromas of strawberry perserves, dark cherry, entoxicating oak and black currant, followed by flavors of dark black fruits, cedar, pure cacao, and oak. The finish shows good structure and firm tannin. A nicely crafted wine made from mostely Sonoma fruit and from a tad bit of Napa grapes. This wine is quality but lacks somewhat of a true defining character that sets it apart from other wines in this catagory. I score the wine 88+ points.
