2004 Avalon Cabernet Sauvignon

This California appellation Cabernet Sauvignon retails at around $10 and is juice sourced from grapes of several vineyard sources throughout Napa Valley and Sonoma County. Aged 8 months in French and American oak which helped to aid in the softening and overall complexity of the wine, Avalon produced a quality bottle of wine for the price. Aromas of chalky oak, raspberry, boysenberries cherries, and vanilla are followed by flavors of dark cherry, chocolate, and vanilla bean. The finish is clean and very short which is maybe why this wine doesn't demand a higher price. Overall this is a quality bottle for the price. I score the wine 85 points.
