La Jota Howell Mountain Petite Sirah 2001

A small production from La Jota of just over 500 cases of this Petite Sirah and the quality of the wine displays the close attention to detail by the winemaker. A beautiful bouquet of gushing candied fruit, tea leaf, ripe raspberry, and loads of red fruit aromas. The flavors are just as bold and voluptuous showing notes of boysenberry, candied raspberry, smuckers raspberry preserves, and oak that ties it all together. The wine although very fruit forward does carry tannin on the finish and is very well structured. I score the wine 92 points and am very impressed.
