Melipal Malbec 2004

This Malbec comes from 80 year old vines harvested from the foothills of the Andes in Mendoza, Argentina. The color is a dark ruby red and shows its youth with dramatic fruit forwardness in the nose. Aromas of plum, black fruit, violets, and just the slightest hint of earth. The flavors are of cherry, leather, red currants, sweet tea, and coco. The finess of this wine is fantastic and it drinks like a silky merlot. I score the wine 89+ points. A great effort and a reality check as to why Argentina is known for fantastic Malbec.

Fruity flavors are amazing. After working at a Wine & Tapas Bar, I am so used to older wines having a somewhat more vinegarry taste to it. I'm not much of a wine conniseur, shown by the fact that I probably spelled that word wrong.
