Tenuta Alberta Barbaresco 1999
This wine is of light red color that is now thinning towards the edges and even has a slight hint of brown creeping in. The aromas are of plum, ludens cherry cough drops, and the slightest hue of anise. I originally opened this bottle 2 days ago where I found it to be far too astringent and quite off balance to drink but now the wine has softened up a bit and is showing better character. The flavors are of raisins, prunes, and cherry and a tinge of greenness. The finish is dry and a little of balance as far as acid and fruit. I don't hate this wine but it could have definitely aged awhile longer and that possibly would not have improved it too much. I score the wine 85 points.
