Byrd Cooper Merlot 2005

Another tough find on the label but Neyers Vineyards are the ones who produce this little Merlot. The aromas consist of Blackberry, cedar, blackcherry tea, and a touch of tar and molasses. The flavors burst with sour cherry, licorice, and a hint of pencil shaving. This is a simple yet nice little Merlot that is well worth the price tag and shows focus and will pair well with many foods. I score the wine 87 points.

I beg to differ on this one. As I represent the entire Neyers line in Atlanta (have for many years) and also know Bruce himself... I was terribly dissapointed in this wine. The regular Neyers Merlots are incredible, but this Byrd Cooper had very little fruit and overwhelmingly showed nothing but tannins... very short on the palate... and even for the money found it not be representative of a Neyers wine.
