Gruet Grand Rose

From the great high altitude sparkling house in New Mexico, Gruet has created a reserve rose sparkling wine that closely resembles Champagne in style and finesse. The aromas are very Champagne-like and show notes of a faint strawberry, yeast and bread dough, candy fruits, and a slight hint of watermelon. The flavors are very rich and mouthwatering and yeast, strawberry, and a hint of watermelon grace the palate and lead into a generous finish. Tasting carefully one can pinpoint the Pinot Noir used in creating this wine. Tasted along with all the budget wines from Gruet, this rose seems to rise above the norm and capture the essence of Champagne with it's complexity and body. I score the wine 89 points.
