Etude Carneros Pinot Gris 2005

Etude makes some of the best wines in all of California and do a great job with their Pinot Gris although it is not one of their trademark wines. The 2005 Carneros Pinot Gris has beautiful aromas of yeast, honey suckle, orange blossom, mandrin orange, and a touch of anis. The flavors are of tart tangerine, honeydew melon, rich lemon curd, and hints of a certain spice (possibly nutmeg). A pretty simple a fresh wine that shows focus and pure varietal characteristics. I like the wine and score it 88 points.
