2005 Bouchard Père & Fils Bourgogne
Always a solid selection for a very reasonable price. In fact this little Pinot from Burgundy is quite a spectacular effort when placed side by side with the majority of domestic offerings in the same price category. Brilliant and seductive aromas of cranberry, wet stone, earth, steel, mineral, and the slightest strawberry character after proper aeration. The flavors mirror the the aromas with very subtle cranberry and strawberry notes being accompanied by a distinctive Burgundy minerality. Love the wine and I score it 89 points.
