2003 Charles Melton Nine Popes

This wine is a superb effort and a prime example of Aussie terroir and distinct flavor profiles only found down under. The smooth and silky texture is also something that made me really enjoy this wine and rate it above the rest of the group of wines which I was tasting. The nose started out with a pinpoint eucalyptus, ripe and luscious black cherry, dusty dark chocolate, and a touch of mint leaf. The flavors grace the palate with a smooth and seductive texture and a boast beautiful minerality followed by more dark chocolate and eucalyptus, the black fruits are ripe and somewhat indiscernible and finish with a hint of pencil lead and cedar. I really enjoyed this wine for it's authentic flavors and silky texture and score it 91 points.
