2004 Cliff Lede Cabernet Sauvignon Stag's Leap District

A recent trip to Napa Valley and specifically focused on the Stag's Leap District, gave way to true insight into one of my new favorite sweet spots for Napa Cab. I had the chance to visit many Stag's Leap wineries and Cliff Lede was among my favorites because of the fantastic wines that all showed so much class.

This Cabernet Sauvignon in particular was in the top 5 wines I tasted on the trip amongst at least fifty wines. The nose on this Cabernet expresses a deep and rich coco followed by ripe black raspberry and a touch of anise.I believe the chalky and beautiful coco aromas are what makes this wine the true essence of Stag's Leap District Cabernet.
Full and concentrated flavors of black cherry with seductive texture, lead into mouth-coating chocolate covered raspberry that finishes very long. I really think this wine is textbook Stag's and give it a confident score of 93 points.
