2006 Mollydooker The Boxer Shiraz
I tasted this wine for the first time with some of the higher priced wines from Mollydooker and I have to tell you that for the price this wine impressed me even more than last years effort. I found the wine to be far more balanced this time around and not as over the top as the 05'. The wine starts out with aromas of blueberry, boysenberry, pomegranate, and a touch of red apple, then graces the palate with a jammy and viscous texture and flavors of plump blueberries, black raspberry, cassis, oak, and dark chocolate. I like the fact that this wine has much less butter popcorn taste this time around and is slightly less chewy and manipulated. I score the wine 90 points.
