2006 Alfred Merkelbach Urziger Wurzgarten Riesling Auslese

I have been impressed with vintages past of this wine and from this producer. In fact I think these Rieslings are vastly under priced which makes it all the better for those of us who find out about them.

Fresh sliced apple, sugared grapefruit, and lilac make up the aromas of the bouquet that is fresh and lively. On the palate ripe flavors of sweet apple, honeysuckle, golden pear, and sweet carrot display themselves with great strength while maintaining a lightness and beauty. Seamless balance and integrated acidity are what make this wine so special. Rich, intense, amazing, and mouthwatering are a few words to describe this impressive German Riesling. One of the best Rieslings I've tasted and especially at a thirty dollar price point. 95 points
