The "las vals blanc" from Domaine Lignères is made from 100% Roussanne and is barrel aged for 10 months in 50% new oak. This is a very rustic and food-wanting wine that has a nutty and almost sherry-like oxidation on the nose. The flavors are steely, leafy, and rustically green, with just a touch of lime peel. To be completely honest this wine lacked fruit presence and although it did have good acidity, it just lacked fruit. The nuttiness and minerality is what defines this wine and given the right food pairing one could possibly enjoy it. I however would pass on the wine and score it 79 points.
