2004 Domaine Lignères notre dame

The "notre dame" from Domaine Lignères is made from 95% Syrah 5% Mourvèdre. This was the most impressive wine from the domaine and perhaps the best Corbières wine I have ever tasted. A small production of only (550 six-pack cases) this wine is very special indeed. The bouquet isfull of rich, ripe black raspberries, tar, black currant and a real grapiness (like a welch's grape juice). The flavors are even more impressive with ripe black raspberry for days! The texture is silky smooth, round, and mouth-filling. Powerful but gracious in it's approach it boasts huge ripe tannins and an impressive long finish. Truly an amazingly crafted wine and one that speaks volumes for quality wines from this region of France. I score the wine 93 points.
