1989 Chateau Montrose

This beauty I had the opportunity to taste last night and was impressed once again with length in which Bordeaux is ahead of all other wine regions. This wine once decanted for around an hour really started to sing and show immaculate complexity. Aromas of plum, black cherry, leather, and subtle hints kalamata olive combined for a stunning and very complex nose. The bouquet reminded me of really good Brunello di Montalcino strangely enough! The flavors equally complex unfolded onto the palate with plum, sweet tobacco, tea leaf, cherry, and leather. The tannin was sweet but still gripped down on the front and mid-palate. The finish was very long and unfolding. 94 Points

I tried this last year. I don't know how many points to give it, but it was bold, complex and tasty.
