2005 Jarvis Chardonnay Finch Hollow Vineyard

This Chardonnay is aged in 100% new french oak for 11 months and is 100% estate fruit from Jarvis' Finch Hollow vineyard. Dimitri Tchelistcheff the son of the famous winemaker André Tchelistcheff, previously of Beaulieu Vineyards, follows much of his fathers traditional techniques that made BV a world renoun winery and makes gorqeous wines for Jarvis. This wine has a golden straw color and boasts intoxicating aromas of buttery baked apple, caramel, lemon, and nutmeg. The flavors are powerful and expresive and show notes of caramel apple, nutmeg, toast, and creme brulée. The wine is very ful bodied and rich but maintains a sharp acidity which balances out the hefty texture. I would love to see this wine with a lobster or a chicken cream sauce dish. 92-93 points
