2004 Nugan Estate Cabernet Sauvignon

This Cabernet Sauvignon from South Eastern Australia is a good example of an everyday wine that isn't overly expensive and still shows good amounts of complexity and fruit flavor. The nose shows hints of red currants, spice, vanilla and just a touch of mint if you search hard enough to find it. The flavors on the palate are simple and true to the variety, raspberry, cherry, hints of spice and vanilla and a soft finish. Although not quite a boutique wine at around 5000 cases produced, this wine is a nice quaff. It's a tad thin on the mid-palate and the finish is somewhat short but the flavors are nice and would compliment a good pasta dish. 86 points
