2004 Vino de Eyzaguirre Cabernet-Shiraz

This is a relatively inexpensive Chilean Cabernet-Shiraz blend from the Colchagua Valley. I wasn't expecting to be blown away by this wine because of the packaging and the low price point, but this wine for under ten bucks actually showed good structure and regional integrity. The aromas right off the bat reminded me of past Chilean characteristics I have smelt in other wines and the classic green pepper and rustic black raspberry notes rang true to Chile's terroir. Although slightly one dimensional in the attack on the palate, the wine showed some quaffable black raspberry fruits with a touch of tolerated greenness. I have to say for an inexpensive wine this one is worth a shot. 86 Points
