I was extremely taken back by this little Arroyo Seco Chardonnay with it's big tropical aromatics and full lasting flavors. The wine was aged 9 months in 43% new French oak and the grapes sourced from the Clark Ranch property in Arroyo Seco. Regular lees stirring and malolactic fermentation had their obvious and alluring side effects on this wine, making it a creamy and buttery style Chardonnay.
The bouquet is a tropical fruit medley highlighted by beautiful aromas of papaya, coconut, caramel pear, candied green apple, cream, and toasted oak. The flavors profile consists of a buttery toast, ribbon candy, and caramel apple. If you like a full flavored, rich, and buttery toast Chardonnay then this one is definitely your cup of tea. I enjoyed it thoroughly and score it 90 points.
