2006 Coldstream Hills Chardonnay

This Chardonnay delivered more than I had expected just like the Pinot that I reviewed a few weeks ago from Coldstream. A very nicely balanced effort with good acidity and fruit to oak contrast. On the nose this wine shows a stylish amount of bread or yeast notes mixed with hints of lemon peel and a touch of anise. On the palate the soft toastiness of the yeast (lees stirring) mixed with a a good amount of Meyer lemon and hints of pear skin make this a beautiful and soft wine on the palate. The acidity does however pierce down on the palate and leads into an impressive and long finish. All in all a very attractive style of Chard with good complexity, length, and balance. 90 Points
