2006 Penfolds Thomas Hyland Chardonnay

The 2006 Penfolds Thomas Hyland Chard is one dominated by heavy oak and wood components. The bouquet offers creamy and toasted oak flavors followed by hints of lemon custard, and caramelised green apple. The flavors profile continues to breathe staves of oak, lemon curd, and caramel apple. This wine is slightly unsophisticated because it's so easy to hit the nail on the head. You could really sum it up within a sentence, " Oak with a little bit of lemon and apple". he slightly bitter tannin level on the finish doesn't help too much either. It is however inexpensive and for the normal jug wine drinker this could be a reliable quaff. 83-84 points
(Yes, I'm showing this wine a little bit more love than I should!)
