2007 ZD Chardonnay

A California appellation Chardonnay that has wonderful balance and a touch of tropical fruit and nicely integrated oak. I was impressed by the uniquely Napa style Chard from ZD and then I noticed it was just California appellation. I guess the fruit was sourced from several vineyard sites in Napa, Sonoma, Monterey, and Santa Barbara. The bouquet was very complex and showed notes of lemon blossom, carmel corn, papaya, mango, and a touch of toasted coconut. The aromas were very floral as well although I couldn't quite pinpoint the exact flower. On the palate the wine has a soft lemon curd, yellow apple, and tropical fruit flavor profile. The oak to fruit ratio was very well balanced and the wine had great acidity. A very nice Chardonnay and one that I would recommend highly. 90+ points
