2004 12 Linajes Roble Tempranillo

This Tempranillo from Ribera del Duero is dark and full-red in color and has distinct and enticing aromas of candied blackberry, prune, colada, rustic wild berry, and molasses. On the palate the wine drinks with blatant rusticity and lots grip from the high tannin extraction. Flavors of bold blackberry, black currant, plum skin (mostly tactile), prune juice, and unsweetened cherry juice. The wine is a bit more interesting on the nose than it is in your mouth, but really what takes away the harmony on the palate is the astringency and tannin. It is my estimation that bottle age or some really good Spanish cuisine could most definitely enhance your experience with this wine! 85 points
