This late harvest Zinfandel is a to me like a really ripe Zin with a little extra sugar and alcohol. If you're looking for a true desert wine this might not be sweet enough for you. The nose has aromas of grape candy, melted licorice, creme de cassis, dark fruits (not strawberry like other LHZ), oak, and chocolate truffle. On the palate the wine is quite full and shows flavors of black raspberry, nectarine, butterscotch, sweet creme de cassis, grape jelly, and a bit of milk chocolate. It's a nice little wine but I've had better examples of late harvest Zin. Check out Dashe late harvest Zinfandel and I think you'll see what I'm talking about. 89 points2004 Edmeades Alden Vineyard Late Harvest Zinfandel
