2005 Taft Street Zinfandel Cobblestone Vineyards

This Zinfandel was aged in American and French oak barrels for 18 months and the grapes for this wine were selected from the 100+ year old cobblestone Vineyard in the Russian River Valley.
On the nose this wine exhibits aromas of vanilla, black raspberry jam, mixed berry medley, and oak. The flavors of blackberry jam, vanilla, and spice display themselves on a very polished mid-palate that leads into some super ripe strawberry notes on the finish.  If you love jammy fruit bombs with generous amounts of vanilla from long barrel aging, then this is a definite play for you! It's pretty good stuff but just a little over the top on the oak for me. 87 points
