On the nose I get big beautiful black currant notes and hints of crushed rocks, black pepper, molasses, and savory milk chocolate truffle. There's really amazing purity to this wine and the aromas are very delineated. On the palate this wine has a rich and seductive texture, and expresses flavors reminiscent of black raspberry, chocolate truffle, mineral, and creme de cassis.
There is a savory quality to this wine that I'm having trouble communicating and I really believe this wine has impeccable purity and balance. It has the ripeness and voluptuousness of a Silver Oak Alexander Valley, but is far more transparent and seamless. Cheers to the winemaker and owner Chris Bilbro and those who put the effort into making this amazing bottle. 92+ points QPR wise 100 pts!!

Thank you so much for stopping by my tea review blog and for leaving such a kind comment. I'm here to return the favor and to let you know that I truly enjoyed my visit here. Alas, I'm unable to drink alcohol because of several medications I'm on, however your meticulous and detailed reviews have allowed me to live a wee bit precariously through you. Thank you so much for the beautifully-worded reviews, and keep up the great work!
I meant vicariously, and typed precariously instead LOL Shows how tired I am, and how much I should shut this computer off and get some rest!
I love the Marietta wines--such an interesting collection of grapes and styles. Have you tried the Marietta Port?
I'll see if I can find it! Thanks for the suggestion and comments!
Thomas,
Here's my review and photo of the wine.
The name might be changing since California wineries aren't allowed to use the word "Port" anymore, but it's a fun little fortified wine to have on hand.
