2006 Santa Rita Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

This estate grown Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from Chile's famous Maipo Valley D.O. . It is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged in a combination of American oak barrels and stainless steel.

The darkly colored Cabernet has an aroma profile of rich blackberry, black currant, eucalyptus, clove, vanilla, and Marionberry.

On the palate the wine shows lots of deeply extracted and rich black currant and blackberry, but also displays far too much green and stemmy-like tannin. There is some really neat complexity with the text book eucalyptus and black fruit but I think the wine is a bit too bitter and perhaps the fruit wasn't completely ripe when picked. 79-80 Points
