2007 Marques de Murrieta Reserva

What a stunning effort and one of the best under $20 dollar wines I think I may have ever tasted. It's incredible the amount of nuance and character and quality Rioja producers such as this classic place in the bottle for the price. It's especially impressive that they can afford to do so when they have such demanding and time consuming laws that govern aging times for reserve wines.

On the nose this wine delivers aromas of rich ripened tobacco, black plum, ripe blackberry, and a touch of anise. The creamy like woody essence lingers in the background from the use of the all powerful American oak barrique.

On the palate the wine is stunningly luxurious and silky in texture. Flavors of earthy blackberry, tobacco, black tea, overripe plum skin, and creamy oak feature in a complex and intense experience. This wine has a finish that sails on with notes of sandalwood and prune. 91 points 100 – the list is out of our best-selling wines of the year!
